City Nazim Mustafa Kamal on Monday while presiding a meeting of the officials and Consultants of the City Government's Works and Services Department decided that no road without drain would be constructed.

In this regard it was decided that for the future, construction of rainwater drains along with construction of road would be compulsorily incorporated in the designing regulations.

In the meeting, the officers, designers and engineers were unanimous that rains or leakage of sewerage lines cause damage to roads and that was also one reason for repeated construction of roads in Karachi.

It was decided that during the construction of roads, the shifting of utility lines would also be ensured so that in case those lines develop a defect, the digging of roads every now and then could be avoided. It was decided to chalk out a comprehensive planning to avoid damage caused to roads due to utility lines.

The meeting also decided to gear-up work on development schemes including roads.

City Nazim directed the concerned officers and engineers to ensure that all projects were timely completed and particularly the roads whose construction was affecting traffic flows, were completed with round the clock work.
